Viral Video Shows iPhone Siri Answering With Korean Accent, Prompting Discussion

Comedian David Seung (@sunnyd.o.g on TikTok) recently posted a “PSA” about the Apple iPhone‘s digital assistant, Siri.

David explained that he set his Siri’s voice as a Korean man, hoping it would help him learn Korean. It didn’t work, as Siri only gave directions when driving. Yet, Siri is also in charge of phone voicemail messages. So, when you miss a call, your Siri picks up for you. David was shocked to realize about a year later that the Korean male version of Siri picked up, answering in his best attempt at English.

A PSA for anyone using Siri in any voice other than the default. Don’t let Tim Cook. #standupcomedy #siri #korea #korean #iphone #iphonetricks #comedyvideo #apple

The video went viral, with 865.2K views at the time of writing. Many netizens could relate, revealing their own personal experiences with the feature. Women revealed they had Australian male Siri set for theirs, while some men had Indian female Siri set for theirs. So, it’s created a lot of confusion for callers, especially if the call is used for work purposes.
