K-Pop is an industry where everything is planned to the smallest detail, and companies have control over many aspects, especially with younger groups.
When K-Pop idols go on overseas schedules, they’re always greeted at the airport by fans and the media, and their outfits are probably planned to look the best, taking into consideration each member and the conditions of their departure.
But what if you had control over the outfits idols wore at the airport?
That’s exactly what ARTMS are allowing fans to do, and it’s sparked mixed reactions.
The company Modhaus has a system called Gravity, which is a voting app for groups.
Recently, it was announced that fans would be able to vote for what ARTMS wore the next time they were at the airport for an overseas schedule.
When the tweet was shared, netizens shared their shock and anger that it’s getting to the point that idols can’t pick what they wear to the airport, and it’s being chosen by fans through a vote.
this just keeps getting weirder and weirder why are we paying to decide what clothes they wear to the airport… https://t.co/5nHh3tEKSy

People saying that this type of survey is the least harmful thing that this shitty voting system can have, but I'm still sad anyway because one of the funniest things about kpop for me are the airport outfits where they choose what to wear themselves https://t.co/LwfSuXOtiQ

it just reaches a point where people need to think to themselves should i be spending real money on this https://t.co/mjITPuB70G

from the same rotten minds that brought you a gravity to see if the girls in 3s are allowed to have free speech, here comes a gravity to see what kind of clothes you want artms to wear instead of letting them style themselves like adults do. cool, great, not weird at all!!!! https://t.co/nCBcsGVZ8u

Yet, fans quickly shared that the poll was made by the members and compared to the possibilities, having fans pick airport outfits was less serious and just meant to be some fun.
the way the girls probably came up with this themselves bc they had fun planning outfits for fansign themes and orbits are still finding a way to be mad about it 😭 WHAT HAPPENED TO HAVING FUN GUYS https://t.co/BQ8JAIwwcF

look i agree that the gravity system as a whole sucks but 1) the members said they wanted this and 2) idols are always styled for airport arrival. arguing that this is bad bc "we should just let them choose what they want" DOESN'T work here. https://t.co/HfAit6X3Qo

Yet, even after hearing that it was the girls’ choice, many still found it uncomfortable, especially when it was combined with the company’s use of the “Gravity” system with TripleS.
i did see that lol still imo doesn’t erase how weird the system is especially with that last tripleS gravity
